EC 010 403 SIGNALS and SYSTEMS

Understanding of Signals and Systems is essential for a proper appreciation and application of other parts of electrical engineering, such as signal processing, communication systems, and control systems. The course lays the mathematical foundations for the study of signals and systems, classification of signals - continuous time and discrete time signals and properties of systems. The course helps the students in dealing with signals in both time and frequency domains and responses of the systems in both time and frequency domains. This subject, which consolidates and expands student knowledge from lower division mathematics, constitutes an essential conceptual framework from which to understand a variety of engineering systems and also deals with introductory treatments on the subject of filtering, sampling, Z transforms and Laplace Transforms.
