Dr Pramod K Namboodiri obtained PhD from Indian institute of Technology-Bombay (Prof. Ajit R Kulkarni, Dr. Mayuri N Gandhi) . His PhD thesis title was  "Lanthanide activated nanophosphors-synthesis and characterization".
In this work the surface grafting coefficient of the fatty acid ligands and their relation to the luminescence were investigated. Further the effect of core-shell architecture on luminescence, lanthanide to lanthanide energy transfer and the thermal stability of luminescent nanocomposites (TGA-FTIR-MS) were also carried out.
Research interest:- Photocatalytic nanoparticles,Spectroscopy of nanomaterials, quantum dots, organic-inorganic hybrid nanomaterials, bi- modal imaging agents and drug delivery systems, solar cells.
Before joining in IIT-Bombay for PhD, he worked as a research associate in the group of Prof. Roy mahapatra (Aerospace department, IISC-Bangalore) on CNT- polymer nanocomposites, Hydrogel coated FBG sensors and conducting polymers. His bachelors degree (B-Tech) is in Biomedical engineering  (Sahrdaya College of Engineering & Technology) and Masters degree (M-Tech) in Nanomedical science (ACNS-Cochi).
