This course imparts knowledge on various transmission line constants (Resistance, Inductance and capacitance). It deals with the performance analysis of short, medium and long transmission lines thereby we can calculate the voltage regulation and transmission line efficiency. This course familiarizes the generalized circuit constants. It imparts the knowledge of mechanical designing of overhead lines and underground cables.They will have the concept of Skin effect, Proximity effect and Ferranti effect. They will know various Insulators, Testing of insulators, Corona loss and methods to minimize corona losses. Students will have the concept of Sag and calculation of sag in an overhead line.

It deals with various compensation techniques in power system and FACTS devices. It gives the idea regarding HVDC transmission in power system.
