Ms. Sonia Paul completed her graduation in English from St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam; took her M.A in English Language and Literature from the University of Kerala under the tutelage of the late Prof. N. Madhukar Rao (former HoD of English, Maharaja's College, Ernakulam); and has done her M.Phil from Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal. She completed her PhD in English from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam in 2015, under the guidance of Dr Celine E. (Rev. Dr. Sr Vinitha CSST), Director, St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam.

Ms. Paul has also completed a post graduate degree course in Religion and Philosophy from Madurai Kamaraj University, and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education from IGNOU. She has also completed a one year course on the Upanishads from Chinmaya International Foundation. 

Having qualified the UGC-NET right after her post graduation in 2000, she has been teaching ever since, and has put in more than 18 years of service at RSET, training the students in different aspects of language and communication skills. She takes the courses Life Skills in the first year, and Professional Ethics in the second year of the undergraduate programme in Engineering. She has also taught the elective course in Professional Ethics to the final year students from 2014 to 2018.

She has three international publications to her credit. Her areas of interest include Literary criticism especially Feminist Criticism, English Language Teaching focusing on writing skills, Positive Psychology, Religion especially the Christian and Hindu traditions, and Philosophy, specifically Ethics. 

Ms Paul volunteers as a tutor for the Upanishad course offered by the Chinmaya International Foundation. She also proofreads and edits research theses, journal and conference papers in science and engineering, and humanities.
